Last January, in the third lockdown, I became obsessed with lemons. The sky was grey, my studio was freezing, and we were in yet another lockdown. I needed to do something to represent hope, and I started dreaming of lemons. I have always loved the colour and flavour of lemons - they represent warmth, light and lazy days in the Mediterranean to me.
The group of lemon plates that emerged from this time became a symbol of hope, and the dreams of summer and seeing friends again kept me going in darkest days of winter.
